進撃の巨人

Getting a little nerdy here but:

A former student of mine turned me onto this manga series called "Attack on Titan" which is about giant humanoid monsters that eat people. In the english translation they're called Titans.

Yup.

In the fiction, they just appear mysteriously, have no recognizable behavior patterns, and no digestive tract. They ignore all other forms of flora and fauna, and since they derive no nutritional benefits from eating people, their hunting patterns can't be classified as predation but bloodlust. Very creepy stuff.

So Humanity is all but extinct, and the small remaining population lives within a 3-tiered walled city. Throw in 3 young friends, a military academy and a Titan to Human death ratio that is staggeringly disproportionate and you've got a pretty decent manga. It's typical in the genre in that you're dealing with high stakes, archetypes, and soaring melodrama (quivering, ponderous eyes, etc...) - it stands out because the themes and motifs are universal enough to speak to a wide audience and specific enough to draw some decent parallels to modern Japanese culture ( a dwindling population, giant conglomerates consuming resources, and a corrupt, untouchable, unaccountable elite at the center)

You can binge watch the TV adaptation ( like I did ) on Netflix right now. English subs.

They're making a live action film adaptation.
So this thing is going to be huge. Get it? Huge.

sásta lá Naomh Pádraig

I walked around on South Street after rehearsal for R&J at Philly Shake's. Met a very nice family from Ocean City. Had a few scoops then had dinner with Ames at El Camino. Today I had an audition for a voice job and now me and Frear are just kicking it, trying to beat the weather.

Merry Christmas

Hopefully, a lot of new things in 2014.
I haven't been posting here for three reasons.
I'm not near a computer as much as I used to be, nothing much is new ( just auditioning and auditioning...) and I can't really talk that much about my projects that are either in the works or ones that I haven't gotten yet.

Philadelphia is a small town, I still really would like to work in these theaters.

I switched management and the group that I'm working with now is pretty fantastic. I hopefully have a project lined up for February, I have two in January and I'll be playing Tybalt at the Philadelphia Shakespeare Theater next Spring.

2013 was a great year, a lot of fantastic opportunities.
Thanks to the people that gave me a chance to play.

Thanks to my family, and Mrs. Boogle.
Onward.

So it's December.

What? I can't believe that it's December.
My head is spinning. I'll be in Birmingham, AL this upcoming weekend working on a 2 day shoot. I get to see my cousins as well. One of these days I'll make some time to write something decent here.
